Courses on genetic linkage mapping and QTL analysis

Go to: in-house linkage analysis course.

The next courses are expected to be held on 18-20 and 23-25 March 2015.
In March 2014 Kyazma organizes:

Where ?

Both courses will be given in Wageningen, at the hotel and conference centre Hof van Wageningen.

Linkage mapping course

On 19, 20 and 21 March 2014 Kyazma organizes a 3-day course on genetic linkage mapping, with computer practicals using JoinMap. The goal of the course is to teach the participant to produce linkage maps for experimental populations using JoinMap and to recognize and subsequently deal with various problematic situations in linkage mapping.

Description

The course will be based upon the textbook Genetic Mapping in Experimental Populations, written by J.W. Van Ooijen & J. Jansen (Cambridge University Press, 2013) (each participant will receive a copy of the book).

The course will include:

Requirements

The course is targeted to the biologist with a basic knowledge of genetics and statistics. Some experience with MS-Excel is useful. Participants need to bring a laptop computer running Windows-XP (or newer), and MS-Excel (or compatible) installed.

When ?

The three-day course will be given on: 19, 20 and 21 March 2014.
(Kyazma reserves the right to cancel the course upon insufficient participation.)

Cost

The fee of the three day course is 1110 euro (1135 euro when paying with a VISA Card or MasterCard). You will receive payment details by e-mail after your registration has been accepted. Hotel accommodation and meals are NOT included in the fee of the course (except 3 lunches and a joint dinner on 20 March). You will receive instructions regarding your hotel reservation.

QTL analysis course

On 24, 25 and the morning of 26 March 2014 Kyazma organizes a 2½-day course on QTL analysis, with computer practicals using MapQTL. The goal of the course is to teach the participant a basic understanding of QTL analysis, so that he/she will be able to perform QTL analysis for experimental populations using MapQTL.

Description

The course will include:

Requirements

The course is targeted to the biologist with a basic knowledge of genetics and statistics. Some experience with MS-Excel is useful. Participants need to bring a laptop computer running Windows-XP (or newer), and MS-Excel (or compatible) installed.

When ?

The two-and-half day course will be given on: 24, 25 and the morning of 26 March 2014.
(Kyazma reserves the right to cancel the course upon insufficient participation.)

Cost

The fee of the two-and-half day course is 925 euro (945 euro when paying with a VISA Card or MasterCard). You will receive payment details by e-mail after your registration has been accepted. Hotel accommodation and meals are NOT included in the fee of the course (except 3 lunches and a joint dinner on 25 March). You will receive instructions regarding your hotel reservation.

In-house linkage analysis course

Occasionally Kyazma will accept an invitation to teach above two courses as a one-week in-house course. The fee will depend on the group size, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 participants. For inquiries please send an e-mail to <course(at)kyazma.nl>.
